Interface Evaluation of Portuguese and International News Websites

In this paper, we present an observational descriptive study of news websites, focusing on aspects related to interface design, accessibility and usability. Interface design was evaluated by measuring selected areas from web pages screenshots. As for the accessibility, automatic testing tools were used in the evaluation and analysis. Finally, a total of 145 user tests were conducted to evaluate overall usability. Our sample had a total of 30 websites, divided in both Portuguese and international websites. Contributions include a state of the art of news websites and a comparison between Portuguese and international websites in this area.
